Congratulations on taking the next step to finding out if you can benefit from Zyoptix Personalized Laser Vision Correction.
During your pre-operative examination we will determine if you are a good candidate for Custom LASIK surgery. Our team of experienced doctors and technicians will perform several diagnostic tests, many of which you are familiar with when undergoing a general eye exam. Two additional LASIK diagnostic tests will be performed. Your role during these tests is simple. While seated, your chin will rest on a stand and pictures will be taken of your eyes. You will be asked to relax and gaze at a distant object while our technicians do all the work.
1. The first test uses the Bausch & Lomb Orbacan ® Diagnostic system. The Orbscan thoroughly evaluates the structure of your cornea to make sure you are a suitable candidate. It produces a picture that looks like the weather doppler screen you see on TV. It will show us the hills and valleys of the front surface and will measure the thickness of your cornea. Some patients have thin corneas and this may disqualify them from LASIK.
2. The second test uses the Bausch & Lomb Zywave ® system. This test measures your eye's anatomy for unique optical characteristics using advanced wavefront technology. Zywave maps up to 9,600 data points - producing a precise, three-dimensional picture of your eye's shape and characteristics.
3. After completion of these tests, you will be given dilation drops. Following your exam, you may experience some light sensitivity but with dark sunglasses, you will be able to drive home.
4. Following dilation, we will repeat the Orbscan ® and Zywave ® tests to ensure accurate measurements. These diagnostic tools enable us to measure your quality of vision, not just your prescription. The two tests combined with the Bausch & Lomb laser generates your Personalized Laser Vision Treatment.
Our goal during your examination is to confirm your candidacy and most importantly answer all of your questions.
